Welcome to The Tobacco Grower.
Tobacco growing is as easy as growing tomatoes and can be grown all year round.
First you will need seeds I suggest Golden Virginia because that is what I have grown successfully.
So lets do a list of items you will need to begin with.

1. Seeds.
2. Seed tray.
3. Propagator.
4. Seedling compost.
5. Spray Bottle.

First you need to fill seed tray with compost see photo, make sure you push out the holes on the bottom then place seed tray on a piece of wet kitchen paper, 3 or 4 sheets is best as this will hold more water and place in the propagator.
Water the compost to a moist consistency do not saturate.
Then sprinkle a few seeds in each section of the tray and mist spray them with water only lightly as you do not want the seeds swimming around.

Place the lid on and place in a light area preferably on a window sill even if you are using an electric propagator. see photo.

Leave in place until seedlings appear this should take 4 to 5 days and maybe longer depending on conditions including temperature.
Check daily to ensure conditions stay moist but not too wet.
When the seedlings have grown they will need separating and replanting individually. See photo.

Continue to keep moist by mist spraying when the compost becomes dry.
When the seedlings become stronger you will need to put them into pots. See photo.

At this point you can use a more mature compost or earth. If you decide to use earth it is preferable to sieve it to remove large stones etc.
When the grow stronger it is then time to either plant into large pots or into the ground. See photo.

If space allows place plants around 18 inches and 2 feet apart.
If you are using large pots one plant per pot. Now here I can give you a handy tip B&Q buckets are ideal for this and at only a £1 each much cheaper than gardening pots. Don't forget to drill 3 or 4 holes in the bottom of each one for drainage.
Keep watering the plants and they will be ready for harvest in around 60 days. When the leaves start to
turn yellow is an ideal time to pick them from the plant. (Although they don't always turn yellow and most of mine have been green when I have picked them)
Bunch 4 or 5 leaves together and wrap an elastic band round the stalks and hang on a line of string. This can be anywhere dry and airy, for instance a shed, conservatory, spare room or wherever suits you. See Photo.

Leave flowers until seed pods turn brown and dry.
Inside the pods are your next batch of tobacco plants. Good Luck!
